Dr. Bruce received 'Personality of the Year' from Dr. Robert McCaffrey, Global Gypsum 2007. This award was for Dr. Bruce's countless contributions to the gypsum industry over more than 30 years and for his company’s continuing role in aiding the industry in terms of forecasting and technological advancement.
His paper, Survival Economics 2008, had forecast the current downturn in US board markets and the upturn in supply, with the resulting crash in board prices being the obvious result. Dr. Bruce also pointed out the underlying cost structure of old, new and future board lines.
Global Gypsum, Shanghai, 2008
Dr. Bob Bruce presented 'Global Gypsum Industry to 2025' sharing specifics of the present day gypsum industry and the faltering US market as a result of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Mark Flumiani (BSc), Project Manager at Innogyps, presented for the first time at Global Gypsum 2009.
Mark discussed the importance of computer-aided tomography (CAT) scans of gypsum board (Gypsum Wallboard Core Structure and Effects on End Use Performance). This is a technique that yields information on bubble size distribution and density sections and on what actually happens during the nail pull test.
Congratulations Mark for receiving 4th place.
